Task 9. Working with OCM codes
Learning objective
You will learn to link senses to the OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) categories, and then view all the anthropologically related words in your Lexical Database.
Preparation
Open the English Lexical Database and navigate to the
Major Entry flag. Make sure
is
visible in the Sense.
Linking OCM codes manually
1. In
,
go to the Sense a piece of cloth, and click
.
2. In Chooser: FRAME and OCM Codes, double-click 300 Adornment, and click OK.
3. To add a second OCM code,
click
.
4. In Enter: OCM Codes,
click the OCM codes
,
select a category, and click OK.
Alternative to Steps 1–2: In
,
type the three-digit code of a desired category.
Linking OCM Codes automatically
Preparation
You need to first link entries in your Lexical Database to some Thesaurus categories. Delete all incorrect Thesaurus links before automatically linking OCM Codes.
Tip: You may also manually add more OCM links to entries. Choose to link one entry or all entries.
Linking all entries
1. In the Lexical Database Editor, go to the menu and click Tools…Auto-Set OCM Links.
2. In LinguaLinks Message, click Continue.
Result: Auto-sets all entries with Thesaurus links.
Linking only one Entry
1. In the Lexical Database Editor, double-click the heading of an Entry.
Result: Opens an Entry Editor.
2.On the menu, click Tools…Auto-Set OCM Links.
Linking only one Sense
1. In the Lexical Database Editor, double-click the heading of a Sense.
Result: Opens a Sense Editor.
2. On the menu, click Tools…Auto-Set OCM Links.
Result: Displays OCM links

Deleting OCM links
1. In a lexical entry Sense window, go to

select an unwanted link.
2. On the keyboard, press Delete, and also press Ctrl+Y.
