Population 30,000 or more who speak it fluently, plus 60,000 or more who understand it (2000 J. Persson). 
Region Jämtland and scattered elsewhere in Sweden.

Classification Indo-European, Germanic, North, West Scandinavian.
Comments Perhaps 95% lexical similarity to other Norwegian or Swedish dialects, other loans from German, Danish, French. Many parents do not teach it to their children.
