Region Mordovia, southern. Saramsk is the capital.

Classification Uralic, Finno-Ugric, Finno-Permic, Finno-Cheremisic, Finno-Mordvinic, Mordvinic.
Comments Considerable difference with Erzya. Bilingualism in Russian. The Tengushen are Erzya ethnically, but speak Moksha. Christian. Bible portions 1879-1996.
