Population (713,919 in Namibia together with Kwanyama and Kwambi; 1991 census). Population total both countries 240,000 (1987 UBS).
Region Ovamboland. Also spoken in Angola.

Dictionary. Grammar. Literacy rate in second language: 75%. Christian, traditional religion. Bible 1954-1986.
