Population 3,000 or more (1998). 
Region Bheri Zone, Surkhet and Bardia districts, Seti Zone, Kailaki District.
Alternate names   RAJIBAR
Classification Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Himalayish, Mahakiranti, Kham-Magar-Chepang-Sunwari, Magar.
Comments Closely related to Rawat and Raute. Devidatta Sharma (1990) concludes that Raji in India is a Munda language with borrowing from Tibeto-Burman and Indo-Aryan. Bilingualism in Nepali. Raji used at home, with Raji speakers, Nepali with outsiders. Moderately vigorous. Has been a nomadic group, but has now settled. Grammar. Literacy rate in second language: 21.5% (1991 census). Riverine. Swidden agriculturalists. Traditional religion, Hindu.
