Population 700 speakers out of 10,000 population in USA (1995 M. Krauss). Population total both countries 775.
Region Southeastern Alaska from Yakutat south to the Canadian border at Portland Canal, and inland through British Columbia into south central Yukon Territory between Tagish and Kaska northward. Also spoken in Canada.

Comments Bilingualism in English. Youngest speakers are 60 to 65 and older, except in Angoon, Alaska, where they are nearly 50. There is growing interest in the language among the population. SOV. Coastal. Fishermen, lumbermen. Bible portions 1969.
