Population 14,000 or fewer speakers (1991 Elle) out of a larger ethnic group. 
Region Niederlausitz (Dolna Luzica) in eastern Germany, Cottbus (Chosebuz) the main town. The ethnic group has over 60 towns and villages.
Alternate names   NIEDERSORBISCH, BAS SORABE, WENDISH, LUSATIAN, LOWER LUSATIAN, DOLNOSERBSKI, DELNOSERBSKI
Classification Indo-European, Slavic, West, Sorbian.
Comments Almost exclusively older generation. Their own name for the language is 'Dolnoserbski'. High school, Sorbian language school. Newspapers. Bible 1796-1824.
