Region Northeastern Oklahoma and Canada. Also spoken in Canada.

Dialects HURON, WYANDOT.
Classification Iroquoian, Northern Iroquoian, Huron.
Comments No mother tongue fluent speakers. Wyandot was spoken until quite recently near Sandwich, Ontario, and Wyandotte, Oklahoma. There were 2 elderly speakers in 1961. Huron was last spoken at Lorette, near Quebec City, in the mid-19th century, or 1912. Dictionary. The language is being taught to children in school (1999). Extinct.
