Population 30,000 (1994 UBS).
Region Matupi, Paletwa, Kanpetiet townships.
Alternate names   Daai, Dai, M'kaang
Dialects Matupi Daai, Paletwa Daai, Kanpetiet Daai. Two subgroups: one of them Tuishiip, or Shiip. Daai is reported to have 6 main subgroups.

Language development NT: 1996.
Comments Sometimes called 'Mün', or 'Ütbü' ethnically, but those groups are linguistically distinct. In the past, they called themselves 'Mün', 'Ütbü', and 'Khyo' (Hyo, Sho, Zo) for higher status. Matupi Daai may be a separate language. SOV. Mountain slope. Tropical forest. 800 to 1,700 meters. Swidden agriculturalists.
