Region  North Nevada and adjacent areas of Oregon, California, and Idaho. On about twenty reservations spread over 1610 square km.

Dialects  Bannock, North Northern Paiute (Mcdermitt), South Northern Paiute (Yerington-Schurz). Related to Mono [mnr]. Most reservations have their own dialect. Dialects inherently intelligible.

Language use  Greatest use in McDermitt. Informal language programs in Owens Valley Paiute, language classes, written materials for Gidutikad band. Mainly adults.
