Task 14. Entering appropriate Entry information

Learning objective

Given the necessary sense information, you will learn to enter all appropriate Entry information.

Preparation

To prepare for this task, open the English Lexical Database, go to a Lexical Database Editor(or Major Entry Editor) and open the Major Entry: Flag. Set the Preferences…Data Entry–Normal…View Components in Order view to include Base Pron, Citation Pron, Summary Definition, Annotations, and Cross Refs, and click OK.

Adding a Base Pronunciation

1. In the Lexical Database Editor, click .

2. In the Pronunciation Editor, beside Form, type flaeg.

Tip: The encoding for this field is set under Options…Preferences…Lexical Database Setup…Encoding for Pronunciations.

3. Beside Sound, click , choose a file with a .wav extension, and click OK.

Result: Closes the Pronunciation Editor.
