Don’t see the data you’re expecting?

If you’re wondering where all the detailed data went, don’t worry— we haven’t removed anything! What you may be seeing is our new Starter level that provides a high-level summary and overview of each country and language in the world. We designed this for users who don’t need a full Essentials or Standard subscription to Ethnologue but are still interested in basic information. Rest assured that if you previously had an Essentials or Standard subscription on our old website, you still have access to the same data and information as before.

If you’re an existing account holder and this is your first time visiting the new website, you will need to create a new profile and password. Your existing account data and subscriptions are unaffected by this change, and will be transferred to your new profile. You will only see the Starter level until your account is registered on our new platform.

All existing users must complete the following simple 4-step profile setup process to access your subscription. If you have already successfully done this and still only see Starter level information, please make sure you are logged into your account. If you’re logged in, your name will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen (or bottom right on mobile devices). See the bottom of this page for more steps if you are still having difficulty.

Step 1:

Click Login in the top right corner of the page.

Step 2:

Click Please sign up as a new user. (Do not enter any existing login credentials on this screen.)

Step3:

Enter the email address you normally use to access Ethnologue. Create a new password, then click Continue.

Step 4:

You will be redirected to your account page where you will see a box to enter a confirmation code. Please check your email for the code and enter if here within 60 minutes.

We have heard from a handful of users who, upon completing the email confirmation, still only had access to the Starter-level information. If you clear cached images and files in your web browser, this should clear up any issues you are experiencing. Please make sure to clear data for all time, not just recent data—no need to clear cookies, browsing history, or any other data. Please contact Customer Service (or click the purple chat icon at the lower right) if you are still having difficulty accessing your appropriate subscription level.

That’s all!

Once you complete these steps, you will have full access to the new Ethnologue.com. Your existing account information, contribution credits (if applicable), and subscription details will all carry over to your new profile.
