Language Use

Being replaced by Lahu [lhu] in Houayxay District, by Akha [ahk] in Namtha Province (2007). All are multilingual, speaking Akha [ahk] or Lahu [lhu] or both along with a Tai language (Bradley 2007).

A larger population may be in China under Han nationality.
