Task 44. Creating a Range Filter
Learning objective
You will learn that a Range Filter can help you find or exclude all Entries within a range of letters based on the sorting order of the language encoding.
Preparation
Open the English Database Editor
Adding a new Range Filter
1. On the menu, click Go…Filter.
2. In Filters, click
,
select Range, and click
.
Editing a new Range Filter
1. Click
.
2. In the Range Filter Editor, for Name of Filter, type Entries w-z.
3. For Abbreviation, type w-z.
Tip: Do not do it now, but if you need to filter all entries but a particular range, select the Not (Exclude) box.
4. For Starting With, type w.
5. For Through, type z.
6. For Using Attribute, click
and
select Base Form.
7. For In Encoding, click
,
select English, American, and click OK.
Activating a new Range Filter
1. In Select Filter to Use, click OK.
Result: Shows the status in red on the bottom status bar (eight entries from w-z in the English Lexical Database).
