Region  Khatlon Province, Vakhsh Valley villages; Kuliab and Leninabad cities. Mainly small villages. Also in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan.

A member of macrolanguage Arabic [ara] (Saudi Arabia).
Language use  Only a few now speak Arabic. Shifting to Tajiki [tgk]. No diglossia with Modern Standard Arabic. Also use Tajiki [tgk] as L2.
Writing system  Arabic script.
Comments  Endogamous, do not mix with speakers of other languages. Agriculturalists; animal husbandry: cattle. Muslim (Hanafi Sunni).
