Dialects  Many dialects. Much intelligibility with Tunisian Judeo-Arabic [aeb], some with Judeo-Tripolitanian Arabic [yud], none with Judeo-Iraqi Arabic [yhd]. May be inherently intelligible with Moroccan Arabic [ary].
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Semitic, Central, South, Arabic
A member of macrolanguage Judeo-Arabic [jrb] (Israel).
Language use  Also use Hebrew [heb].
Language development  Radio programs.
Writing system  Hebrew script.
Comments  Many borrowings from Spanish, Ladino [lad], French. Jewish.

Language use  Younger generation has French as mother tongue. Their Arabic is more similar to Moroccan Arabic than to Moroccan Judeo-Arabic. Mainly older adults. Some also use Spanish, French, or Hebrew [heb].
Comments  A large number of borrowings from Spanish, Ladino [lad], and French. Several Jewish schools taught almost exclusively in Hebrew. Jewish.
