Population  3,940 (1993 census).
Region  West, Chari Baguirmi Prefecture, N’Djamena Subprefecture. North of Djermaya and between Karal and Tourba. Possibly in Bokoro Subprefecture, Ngoura area. 23 villages.

Alternate names   Babalia, Babaliya, Bubalia
Dialects  A creole developed from Chadian Arabic [shu] (90% of the vocabulary) and Berakou [bxv] (10%; Decobert). Babalia shares structural similarities with Juba Arabic [pga]. There is a post-creole continuum from Chadian Arabic [shu] to the Bagirmian basilect [bmi].

A member of macrolanguage Arabic [ara] (Saudi Arabia).
Comments  ‘Babalia’ is the ethnic group whose original language was Berakou [bxv]. Muslim.
