Region  Chuvashia, east of Moscow, near Volga River. About half live in towns (1995). Also in Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan.

Dialects  Anatri, Viryal. The only extant language in the Bolgar branch of Turkic.
