Population  2,000 (1993 SIL).
Region  Southeast Oaxaca, Lachao Pueblo Nuevo, Santa MarĂ­a Yolotepec villages.

Alternate names   Chatino de la Zona Alta Oriental, Lachao-Yolotepec Chatino, Sierra Oriental Chatino
Dialects  One dialect. Uses lengthened word forms similar to Zenzontepec Chatino [czn]. Similar to Zacatepec [ctz], but geographically and socioeconomically separated. 87% intelligibility of Yaitepec dialect of Western Highland Chatino [ctp], 83% of Nopala [cya], 77% of the Panixtlahuaca dialect of Western Highland Chatino [ctp], 21% of Tataltepec [cta].
Classification  Oto-Manguean, Zapotecan, Chatino
Language use  Some also use some Spanish.
Writing system  Latin script.
Comments  VSO; long words, affixes, clitics; tonal. Agriculturalists: coffee, timber.
