Population  578,000 (1982 SIL).
Region  Center Province, all except the east Mefou Division; Mfoundi and Nyong-and-So divisions; south Nyong-and-Mfoumou Division; South Province, north Ocean Division.

Dialects  Badjia (Bakjo), Bafeuk, Bamvele (Mvele, Yezum, Yesoum), Bane, Beti, Fong, Mbida-Bani, Mvete, Mvog-Niengue, Omvang, Yabekolo (Yebekolo), Yabeka, Yabekanga, Enoah, Evouzok. It is intelligible with Bulu [bum], Eton [eto], Fang [fak] as part of the Beti [btb] language.
