Classification  Creole, French based
Language use  Trade language. First language for over 30% of the population in the capital. The most important rural language. Educated people can all speak it, but try to avoid it. Low status. Not taught in schools. Some decreolization is taking place. Most also use French.

Writing system  Latin script.
