Alternate names   Hutterian German, Hutterite German, Tirolean, Tyrolese, Carinthian German
Dialects  About 50% intelligible to Pennsylvania German [pdc], Plautdietsch [pdt], or Standard German speakers. Although called ‘Tirolean’, it is not a pure Tirolean dialect but contains Carinthian and Russian words.

Language use  Home. All ages. Most have limited comprehension of English and even less comprehension of Standard German.
Comments  In addition to attendance at public schools in each colony, children attend supplemental private schools with instruction in religion and 16th century Biblical German. Standard German is also taught in some colonies. Biblical German, Hutterisch or English used for religious activities. Intensive agriculturalists. Some manufacturing. Christian.
