Population  Ethnic population: 338 Parakatêjê (ISA), 473 Pukobjê (2005 ISA).
Region  Pará state; new village called ‘Kaikoturé’, near Marabá; scattered in or near original locations in Maranhão.

Dialects  Related to Krinkati-Timbira [xri], Canela [ram], Krahô [xra].
Classification  Macro-Ge, Ge-Kaingang, Ge, Northwest, Timbira
Language use  Positive attitude. Increasingly also use regional Portuguese [por]. Portuguese used in schools.
Comments  They call themselves ‘Parakatêjê Indian Community’. Not to be confused with the Gavião of Jiparana [gvo].
