Dialects  Related to Bambassi [myf] (Bender 1975).
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Omotic, North, Mao, West
Language use  West Central Oromo [gaz] is the lingua franca of the area, but there are some negative attitudes toward it. Bilingual proficiency in Amharic [amh] and Arabic [arb] is low.
Language development  Literacy rate in L2: 5.1%.
