Dialects  Most similar to Biete [biu]; Dialect differences between Assam and Tripura but mostly intelligible. Manipur dialects strongly influenced by Hmar [hmr], those in Mizoram by Mizo [lus].
Classification  Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Kuki-Chin-Naga, Kuki-Chin, Northern
Language use  Use declining in Mizoram, Manipur and even Assam. Home, village. Some speak Mizo [lus], Hindi, English, or Assamese [asm].

Writing system  Latin script, used in India.
