Population  1,500 (1993 SIL).
Region  Salamat region, Abou Deïa Department, west of Abou Deïa. Originally centered in Bourmataguil village, now centered in Ader-Ader.

Alternate names   Djongor Bourmataguil, Dougne, Karakir
Dialects  Dougne, Musunye. Relationship with other Dangla languages needs investigation, especially Toram [trj] and Mogum [mou].
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Chadic, East, B, B.1, 1
Language use  A large number have shifted to Chadian Spoken Arabic [shu], but in 2 villages the children still learn Jonkor Bourmataguil.
Comments  ‘Karakir’ means ‘cave-dwellers’ in Arabic. The name ‘Jegu’ has been applied to this language, but Jegu is a dialect of Mogum.
