Region  Along the lower Amu Darya; south Aral Sea area. Also in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation (Asia), Turkmenistan.

Comments  Some literature. Fishermen in Aral Sea; agriculturalists; craftsmen. Muslim (Sunni).

Comments  May be no remaining speakers in Afghanistan. The reference to them is dated. May now speak closely related Uzbek [uzs]. May have been absorbed into Farsi [frs] or Pashto. Muslim.
