Population  18,500 (Bender 1983).
Region  Salamat region, Barh-Azoum Department and Ouaddaï region, Sila Department. Northeast of Am Timan and southwest of Goz Beïda.

Alternate names   Kibeit, Kibeet, Kabentang
Dialects  Dagel (Daggal), Murru (Muro, Mourro), Kibet. Similar to Runga [rou]. Not a dialect of Tama [tma] as reported in some sources.
Classification  Nilo-Saharan, Eastern Sudanic, Nilotic, Western, Luo, Northern, Maban-Burun, Maban, Mabang, Runga-Kibet
Language use  Positive attitude. Most also use Chadian Spoken Arabic [shu].
Language development  Literacy rate in L1: 0.
Comments  The area is flooded 6 months each year. Agriculturalists: sorghum, peanuts; animal husbandry; fishermen; hunter-gatherers. Muslim.
