Population  3,800 (2003 GILLBT), increasing.
Region  Southeast of the Sisaala and west of the Mamprusi. Remote, isolated, no roads. 5 villages, Yikpabongo the main one, Nangurima another.

Alternate names   Koma, Komung, Koni
Dialects  Related to Mampruli [maw], Hanga [hag], Buli [bwu]. Lexical similarity: 60% with Buli.
Classification  Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, North, Gur, Central, Northern, Oti-Volta, Buli-Koma
Language use  Vigorous, with a strong sense of ethnic identity. Women from other language groups who marry Koma men learn the Konni language. All domains. All ages. Also use Mampruli or Tumulung Sisaala [sil].
Language development  Literacy rate in L1: 16%. Literacy rate in L2: 0%. NT: 2004.
Writing system  Latin script.
Comments  Politically under the Mampruli chief. The people are called ‘Koma’. A high percentage of blindness from onchocerciasis. Agriculturalists: yams, cassava, millet, guinea corn, maize, peanuts. Traditional religion, Christian, Muslim.
