A language of Chad

Population  16,800 (1993 census). 10,000 or more Kwang, 2,000 Mobou, 250 Aloa.
Region  Tandjilé region, Tandjilé Est Department. North of Laï, east of Bongor, southwest of Bousso. The Mobou are in Mobou, south of Bousso; Aloa are in Mogo.

Alternate names   Kouang, Kuang, Kwong
Dialects  Kwang, Mobou (Mobu), Ngam (Gam, Modgel), Tchagin (Tchakin), Aloa, Kawalké, Gaya, Mindéra. Includes Midigil village, sometimes erroneously listed as a language named ‘Modgel’ (Medegel) in some sources. Lexical similarity: 42% with Kera [ker].
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Chadic, East, A, A.3
Language use  The Aloa also use Bagirmi [bmi]. The Ngam also use Kaba [ksp].
Comments  The Ngam dialect is different from Ngam [nme] of Chad and Central African Republic in the Sara group of Nilo-Saharan. Traditional religion, Christian, Muslim.
