An extinct language of Syria

Population  Extinct.
Region  Qamishli town. Originally in Mlahsó and ’Ansha villages, Diyarbakir Province, Turkey.
Alternate names   Suryoyo
Dialects  Similar to Turoyo [tru].
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Semitic, Central, Aramaic, Eastern, Central, Northwestern
Language use  The last speaker died in 1998. His daughter knows Mlahsö well, but is nearly deaf and has no one to speak it to (1999). Mlahsö was still spoken by a handful of people during the 1970s.
Comments  ‘Suryoyo’ is their own name. A different language from Turoyo [tru], also called ‘Suryoyo’. Christian (Jacobite).
