Population  5,300 (1982 SIL).
Region  Center Province, Mbam Division, Mmala canton, in and south of Bokito.
Language map  Southwestern Cameroon, reference number 237
Alternate names   Benyi, Central Yambassa, Mmala
Dialects  Related to Elip [ekm] and Yangben [yav].
Classification  Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Mbam, Yambasa (A.60)
Language use  Religious services. Speakers do not think French will replace Mmaala. Also use French, Ewondo [ewo], Bulu [bum], Elip, or Yangben.
