Region  North West Province, Donga-Mantung Division, Misaje Subdivision, Nkanchi, Nfume, Chunge, Bem, Kibbo and Mungong villages; Menchum Division, Bum Subdivision, Mungong.

Alternate names   Cane, Nchane, Nchaney, Nchanti, Ntshanti
Dialects  Ncane, Mungong (Mungom). Member of the Eastern Beboid subgroup. Lexical similarity: 84% with Nsari [asj], 88% with Noone [nhu].
Classification  Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Beboid, Eastern
Language use  Younger people tend to leave village for larger towns for school or work. All domains. Positive attitude. Some also use Cameroon Pidgin [wes] or English.
Language development  Literacy rate in L1: 0%. Published alphabet 2007. Literacy program to begin 2008.
