Population  2,000 (Parkin 1991). Ethnic population: 5,000 (1987).
Region  Maharashtra, Buldana District, Jamod Jalgaon tahsil.
Alternate names   Nihal
Dialects  Lexical similarity: 25% between Nihal in Chikaldara taluk and Akola District and Korku [kfq] (Munda).
Classification  Language isolate
Language use  Also use Korku [kfq], Hindi, or Marathi [mar].
Comments  They live in or near Korku villages in a position of subordination to the Korku people. Possibly belonged to a now extinct speech family of India. Has been influenced significantly by Munda and Dravidian languages. 60%–70% of vocabulary has been borrowed. Nihali and Nahali [nlx] are different languages.
