Dialects  Most similar to Moyon Naga [mno], Anal Naga [anm].
Classification  Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Kuki-Chin-Naga, Kuki-Chin, Northern
Language use  Also use Meitei [mni], English, Hindi, or Naga Pidgin [nag].
Language development  Literacy rate in L2: 80%. Literacy program in progress by government and church. All can read and write Meitei (Singh 1998).
