Dialects  Munyo (Korokoro, Munyo Yaya), Waata (Sanye), Orma. Distinct from Borana [gax]. Munyoyaya is an ethnic group speaking a dialect of Orma.
Classification  Afro-Asiatic, Cushitic, East, Oromo
A member of macrolanguage Oromo [orm] (Ethiopia).
Language use  Vigorous. Closed community. GIDS 6. Home, social gatherings. All ages. Positive attitude. Also use Kiswahili [swh].
Language development  Literacy rate in L1: Less than 1%. Literacy rate in L2: Less than 30% (English, Kiswahili). Bible portions: 2000.
Writing system  Latin script.
Comments  Orma: pastoralists: cattle, sheep, goats; Munyo: fishermen. Muslim.
