Dialects  Basic vocabulary more similar to standard English than Tok Pisin [tpi] of Papua New Guinea is. Grammar shows Melanesian features. Pronunciation varies according to local languages. Historically related to Tok Pisin and Bislama [bis] of Vanuatu. Intelligibility with Bislama quite high.
