Region  North and central Tripura; Mizoram, Aizawl, Lunglei, Chhimtuipui districts, Karnafuli River bank area, 30 villages; Assam, Karimganj District. Also in Bangladesh.
Alternate names   Kau Bru, Reang, Tipra
Dialects  Considered dialect of Kok Borok [trp] called ’Polong-O’ (Muanthanga).
Classification  Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Jingpho-Konyak-Bodo, Konyak-Bodo-Garo, Bodo-Garo, Bodo
Language development  Literacy rate in L2: Very low. School attendance is low. NT: 1990.
Writing system  Latin script.
Comments  A Scheduled Tribe. Different from Riang [ril] of Myanmar, a Mon-Khmer language. Traditional religion, Muslim, Christian.
