Region  Southwest, Wuerttemberg; east Baden-Wuerttemberg; Schwaben; west Bavaria.
Alternate names   Schwäbisch, Schwaebisch, Suabian
Dialects  A variety of Highest Alemannisch [gsw]. More distinct than Bavarian [bar] from Standard German. 40% inherently intelligible with Standard German (estimate). Swabian of the Black Forest is different from Swabian in the Alb (Kloss 1978).
