Population  200,000 in China (1999 X. Zeng). 100,000 monolinguals. Population total all countries: 200,120. Ethnic population: 406,902 (2000 census).
Region  Guangxi and northeast Yunnan; Guizhou: Sandu, and Libo districts; Guangxi: Nandan District. Also in Viet Nam.

Alternate names   Ai Sui, Shui, Sui Li, Suipo
Dialects  Sandong (San Tung), Anyang (Yang’an), Pandong. Dialect differences are minor, although Yunnan is reportedly more different. Sandong is the standard.

Language use  Vigorous. All domains. All ages. Positive attitude. Also use Mandarin Chinese [cmn]. Written Chinese is in use.

Comments  Classified as Shui nationality. 70 syllable-initial consonants. Agriculturalists. Polytheist, Daoist, traditional religion.
