Population  10,000 (2002 SIL). 5% monolinguals.
Region  Palawan, in scattered communities ranging from about 120 kms. south to 60 kms. north of Puerto Princesa, on both sides of the island.

Dialects  Intelligibility with Central Palawano [plc] 66%, with Cuyonon [cyo] 77%. Lexical similarity: 65% with Central Palawano [plc], 71% with Batak [bya], 54% with Cuyonon [cyo].
Classification  Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Philippine, Greater Central Philippine, Palawanic
Language use  Used exclusively with other Tagbanwa in all situations. All ages. In the presence of non-Tagbanwa Filipinos, Tagbanwas are somewhat ashamed of being Tagbanwa, and speak Tagalog [tgl] as they are able. Also use Filipino [fil].
Language development  Literacy rate in L1: 36%. Literacy rate in L2: 36%. NT: 1992.
Writing system  Latin script. Tagbanwa script.
Comments  Fishermen; agriculturalists. Traditional religion, Christian.
