Population  Extinct.
Region  Istanbul area, near the Sea of Marmara, Haci Osman village.
Alternate names   Oubykh, Pekhi, Ubyx
Classification  North Caucasian, West Caucasian, Ubyx
Language use  Last fully competent speaker died 1992. A century ago there were 50,000 speakers in the Caucasus valleys east of the Black Sea. Most migrated to Turkey in 1894. The ethnic group now speaks a distinct dialect of Adyghe [ady].
