Population  1,720 (2001 census), decreasing. 20 Tomyang villages in Ibadeviar of Num Village Development Committee (VDC).
Region  Koshi zone, Sankhuwasabha District, Pathibhava, Makalu, Num VDCs. Eastern hills, upper Arun Valley, Matsayapokhari Panchayat, extreme north Lorung area, directly southwest of Jaljale Mountains; Mechi zone, Bhojpur District.
Language map  Eastern Nepal, reference number 119
Alternate names   Yamphe, Yamphu Kha, Yamphu Rai, Yakkhaba Khap, Yanphu
Dialects  Tomyang (Chongka). Related to Yamphe [yma] but different grammatically and phonologically. (2007 M. Pokharel). 82% similarity with Tomyang (2007 M. Pokharel).
Classification  Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Himalayish, Mahakiranti, Kiranti, Eastern
Language use  Language is passed on to children but is being steadily replaced by Nepali (Toba, Toba and Rai 2005). Used in commerce, religion. Most also use Nepali [nep].
Language development  Grammar.
Comments  Dialects of Southern Lorung [lrr] and Yamphe are also called ‘Yamphu’. Agriculturalists. Traditional Kirat religion.
