Population	450 in Colombia (2007 SIL), increasing. Few monolinguals. Population total all countries: 500. Ethnic population: 867.
Region	Upper Pacá River (tributary of Papurí), Caño Yi River (tributary of the Vaupes), and Caño Tuy River (tributary of the Vaupés). Also in Brazil.

Classification	Tucanoan, Eastern Tucanoan, Central, Bara
Language use	Vigorous. Positive attitude. Eastern Tucanoan languages within the region are learned. Tucano is predominant along the Pacá and Caño Yi rivers. Spanish and Wajiara used in schools and Spanish in government contexts.
Language development	Literacy rate in L1: 10%. Literacy rate in L2: 15%–25%. 10% can write Wajiara. Bible portions: 1985.
Writing system	Latin script.
Comments	Marriage patterns require spouses to be from different language groups. Children speak the languages of both parents and grandparents, but identify with the father’s language. Their own name is ‘Wajiaraye’. Yuriti and Juriti are incorrect spellings. Agriculturalists: manioc; fishermen; hunters; gatherers.
