Population	1,800,000 in China (2000 J. Edmondson). About 50% monolingual. Population total all countries: 1,810,000.
Region	South Guangxi, south Yongning, Longan, Fusui, Shangsi, Qinzhou and Fangcheng counties; some in Jingxi County; Yunnan, Funing County. Also in Viet Nam.

Dialects	Most similar languages are Zuojiang Zhuang [zzj] (Nung Chao), Yongbei Zhuang [zyb], Yang Zhuang [zyg] (Nung Giang), and other Nung languages of Viet Nam. Lexical similarity: 70% between Nong [zhn], Yang [zyg], Yongnan [zyn], Zuojiang [zzj], and Dai [zhd], 65% with Northern Zhuang [ccx].
Classification	Tai-Kadai, Kam-Tai, Be-Tai, Tai-Sek, Tai, Central A member of macrolanguage Zhuang [zha] (China).
Language use	Vigorous. All domains, especially in rural homes when no outsiders are present. Many are partially or fully bilingual in one or more dialects of Chinese and often use them in business, education, government, market and other domains. All ages. Also use Mandarin Chinese [cmn].
Comments	Classified as official Zhuang nationality. Traditional religion, Daoist.
