IPA Help
Recorded sounds of the International Phonetic Alphabet are presented here in a simple interface that helps anyone begin accurate IPA transcription in just a few hours. Learners quickly make the associations between symbol, sound, and points of articulation. A practice feature gives the learner visual feedback to pronunciation. Foreign language teachers and phonetics teachers can record their own sets of words and phrases for student listening, transcribing, and mimicry.
Phonology Assistant
A database program for searching and sorting phonetic data. Data can either be entered via the keyboard or taken from the transcription of recording made with Speech Analyzer. It uses IPA charts to index the phonetic data and supports complex searching and sorting of the data.
Speech Analyzer
Useful to anyone learning and studying another language. Makes digital recordings for and provides graphic displays showing the waveform, loudness, and pitch contours. There are also graphs for showing more technical items like the Spectrum, Spectrograms and Formant tracks, and a vowel chart that plots Formant frequencies which assists in identifying vowels. A must for language learners working on producing native-speaker-like tone and intonation!
