Population
25,600 (2010 census). Census includes Karelian[krl] and Ludian [lud]. Ethnic population: 65,000. Total users in all countries: 30,770.
Status
5 (Developing).
Language Use
Serious attempt since 1990 to revive language use. Mainly older adults. A few children learn the language but most if not all become more fluent in Russian [rus] later in life (Salminen 2007). Also use Russian [rus].
