Language Use
Vigorous. Many non-Baruga wives of Baruga men learn it. All domains. Some in religious services. All ages. Positive attitudes. Some also use Hiri Motu [hmo], but this population is diminishing. Also use Ewage-Notu [nou], Korafe-Yegha [kpr], Tok Pisin [tpi]. Also use English [eng], especially for government communications.
Language Development
Literacy rate in L1: 60%. Literacy rate in L2: 40%. 100% children, 45% women, 90% men. Prep to grade 2. Literature. Texts. Bible portions: 1995–2008.
