L1 users: 1,740 (2010 census). 1,000 Inxokvari speakers (Salminen 2007). Ethnic population: 4,000 (2014 NCRP).

Dagestan Republic: Tsumadinsky district, Khvarshi, Inkhokvari, Santlada, Kvantlada, and Khonokh villages.

Language Status

6b (Threatened). Statutory language of provincial identity in Dagestan Autonomous Republic (1994, Article 10, Constititution).

Dialects

Xvarshi proper, Inxokvari (Inkhokvari).

Language Use

50%–60% of children speak Khvarshi. Positive attitudes. Also use Russian [rus]. Also use Avar [ava], as a literary language.
