Rennellese Sign Language was developed by Kagobai, a deaf person born about 1915, for communication with hearing people (Kuschel 1974). Kagobai died in 2000 (2012 N. Daams), and there never was a self-replicating community of signers. This was very likely a home sign system, not a full language.
